The United Galaxy (銀河連邦 Ginga renpō) is an interstellar organization representing the human race, established in 100 A.G. (2200 A.D.) following the release of the Warp Drive. The organization's purpose is to lead humanity through the stars and unite the galaxy under one banner. The United Galaxy Space Force acts as the United Galaxy's main military branch.

The United Galaxy was based on Earth for over 250 years. Following the Unknown Intellectual Mechanized Species's invasion of Earth in 359 A.G., United Galaxy established its new home base on Gaia. As of 500 A.G., the United Galaxy's reach extends across 5,000 lightyears in each direction from Gaia.

History

United Government

The headquarters and military branches of the United Government, the precursor to the United Galaxy

United Galaxy was first known as United Government (政府連合 Seifu rengō), a global government that combined all of Earth's political states and exercised authority over the entire planet. The United Government was established in 2090 A.D. in response to the human population reaching its saturation point.

Upon its creation, the military forces of every former nation on Earth was reformed into United Government military branches: the United Government Army, the United Government Air Force, the United Government Navy, and the United Government Space Force. The United Government member states also grant themselves autonomy, causing the integration to be easier and a one-world government to be nearly universally approved; this move enforces the values of liberty and equality worldwide.

Uranus Rebellion

In 2090, the GALOF Corporation begins creating humanity's first space colony, the Type-3 Space Habitat (Island), "Uranus." Within eight years, Uranus has been completed. Within the same year, however, rebels took up arms and hijack Uranus' security computer system, "Rama," and plot its crash to Earth. On May 25, 2098, the United Government Space Force (UGSF) deploys their Special Attack Team (SAT) to suppress the rebels and stop the collision course of (Island Three) Uranus and Earth. The operation succeeds and both the rebels & Rama are neutralized, Uranus is left adrift in orbit.

First Space Pioneer Era

The Photon Drive used by the first interstellar ships. The Photon Drive relies on a suppressed-type antimatter annihilation reactor, which collects photons for propulsion.

In 2100, the University of Gaia is founded. At the same year, the Photon Drive enters its release stage which begins the First Age of Space Exploration for humanity. Beginning with the colonization and development of the Sol system, many interstellar spaceships were deployed to conduct research on star systems as far as 10 lightyears away. The interstellar spaceships traveled to the Alpha Centauri system (Toliman and Proxima), Epsilon Eridani system (Ozma), and the 61 Cygni system (Exia), where they discover planets capable of sustaining life (such as Corneus) or with terraforming attributes (such as Exia 2). The discovered planets are colonized, and the units of Pioneers and Builders begin a 100-year work of terraforming the planets. In commemoration of these discoveries, the After Galactic epoch is created to coexist with the AD epoch.

23-Day Way

The first inhabited planet demands sovereignty, which the United Government strikes a resource deal between them and the government. This leads the corporations sending spaceships to defend the planets. In 2150, the first United Government planet declared independence of its own after the United Government declared the first colonized planet a protectorate, denying its sovereignty as it goes against its ideals. Negotiations fall apart and an embargo is imposed. A number of corporations collaborate with the independent government with their reluctance. The Space Arms Race begins as the United Government finds itself under-armed against the independent government. Finally in 2200, the 23-Day War begins as the United Government engages with the independent government. Within 23 days since the war began and despite a 50-year preparations of war by the independent government, the United Government won the space battle as the independent government surrendered before ground combat occurs. The United Government Space Force absorbs all other branches into its fold, making it the armed forces of humanity. Corporations use combat data from the 23-Day War to produce better equipment and gain favor with the United Government over the centuries. Space exploration and development resumes afterwards.

In between 2100 and 2800, the UGSF begins adopting the fleet categorization system and spacecraft classification (fighter, sword, gunner dome, frame, and variable) and implemented the principle of family operation after General Resource. Neucom, finding itself lagging behind General Resource in spacecraft development but outperforming them in technological advancement, creates the NBB COFFIN (Navigate-by-Biosignal COnnection For Flight INterface) system, which uses only craft information as nerve signals and image-processed external images which are projected on an all-sky spherical screen for direct visual recognition, limiting information input to internal information and making it less vulnerable to external hacking.

Second Space Pioneer Era and Reorganization to the United Galaxy

In 2200, the first space-time jump drive, the Warp Drive, is invented, marking the beginning of the Second Age of Space Exploration. After the Warp Drive was released, the United Government was dissolved and reorganized into the United Galaxy, and all military branches were renamed to use the "United Galaxy" prefix. Within the same year, the distinguished terms, Earthian (humans living on Earth) and Galaxian (humans living in space) are created.

Incursions of the ETIs (2243 - 2335)

First Two Unknown Intellectual Mechanized Species (2243 - 2245)

On 2243 (143 A.G.), the encounter with the first Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence occurred when the United Galaxy lost contact with its colony of Alpha-Centauri and other planets within its system. This causes the United Galaxy to send its investigation team where the UGSF encounter the first ETI, later identified as the Unknown Intellectual Mechanized Species (UIMS), who have constructed the Cannon Seed which was intended use it to destroy Earth. Further investigations confirmed that it was created by the aliens who sought to escape their polluted homeworld but rebelled. With this, the UGSF initiates Project Dragoon by deploying the Gunner Dome-style spacecraft, the Dragoon. Within a year, Operation M8774E succeeds and the Cannon Seed, along with the planet Dogmas, is destroyed; leading the UIMS to retreat.

Two years later (145 A.G.), the planet Corneus, located on the Σμ (Sigma Mu) axis in the DHW-Z direction, experienced an unusual and sudden gravitational collapse and was on the verge of disappearing. This prompted the UGSF to send their exploration satellite, Peeping Star III, to investigate the anomaly. The results confirmed the existence of a group of objects that grow by absorbing the energy of planets. The UGSF named this group, UIMS Delta, which were "live weapons" released at the same time as the original UIMS that evolve differently and created the Gravitational Orbital Uncommon Radiation Breeder (GOURB), a giant mobile fortress. After the UIMS Delta sensed the destruction of Cannon Seed, they begin to use the GOURB as revenge against the UGSF. In response, the United Galaxy upgraded the Dragoon to Dragoon R Delta Plus and deployed it alongside the Harris Unit, a squadron comprised of four Cutlass spacecrafts, initiating Operation M8805F. This operation succeeded, resulting in the destruction of the GOURB and planet Corneus. The UIMS Delta took flight in defeat.

Project D

After the successful two operations, the UGSF wasted no time in salvaging the UIMS technology and initiating Project D. Various technologies obtained from the UIMS and UIMSΔ are evaluated and adopted into the UGSF, making it possible for spacecrafts to be smaller in size and higher in performance and firepower. The technological application adopted by the United Galaxy became a long running standard used among future spacecrafts and spaceships. Possibly inspired by Project D, the United Galaxy implemented the Federal Computer (FEDCOM) Cluster System for the first time. The acquisition of UIMS technologies made it possible for the United Galaxy to begin a large-scale galactic immigration which also brought about planetary modifications. This expanded the United Galaxy territory by 60 star systems with a total of more than 40 billion people residing within said star systems.

Galaxian-Galaga Wars (2279 - 2288)

On 2279 (179 A.G.), the Galaxians encountered the insect-like aliens. Unlike the UIMS encounters of 2243, 2245, 2335, the aliens were a highly-intelligent ETI and coming in contact with them was an epoch for the Galaxians. However, this encounter marked the beginning of the Galaxian-Galaga War of 2279. This interstellar war prevented the United Galaxy from being able to understand the aliens entirely. Thus, they codenamed the Galaga by their encounters for the time being (i.e.: Aliens - Galaxian, Galaga - Galaga, Gaplus - Gaplus, Galaga - Galaga '88). Also, this war also sees the debut of their first Fighter-style GFX-001a spacecraft, Galaxip, after the sheer numbers and small size made it impossible for the UGSF to deploy their larger spacecraft, the Dragoon. This move caused the war to end in a United Galaxy victory.

Two years later (181 A.G.), the Galaxian-Galaga War of 2281 began after encountering the aliens that bore differing forms and structures, this encounter being as giant cyborg space insects, named the "Galaga." To face the Galaga, the UGSF establishes the Sol System Defense Line to protect the Solar System from attack. This act enabled the United Galaxy to begin development of the GFX-002b on Earth and use the Dual Fighter mode technology to face the impending Galaga attack both of which are intended to replace the then obsolete Galaxip. After completing the GFX-002b, named "Fighter," the UGSF deploys it in battle against the Galaga and once again wins the war.

Another two years have passed (183 A.G.) and after experiencing the two wars against the Galaxians, the Galaga have evolved into the third-generation of aliens with a higher intelligence, the giant space insects named the Gaplus. The Gaplus soon establishes the empire under their rule, causing the UGSF to develop and deploy the GF-17 "Ogreheader," a spacecraft that utilizes its powerful external weapons named the "Blaster Heads," fearing the rise of the Gaplus Empire. The Queen Galagas recognize this threat and stole the Blaster Heads, which marked the beginning of the Galaxian-Galaga War of 2283. The UGSF hunts them down and exterminated the Gaplus threat, once more winning the war.

Five years later (188 A.G.), however, the Galaga have evolved to a point where they can use their organic "Hyper Drive," which utilizes the quantum dimensional jumping. After building their base of operation on Planet Galaga, the Galaga uses it to assault the United Galaxy's homeworld, Earth. In response, the UGSF takes defensive action to protect Earth from the Galaga that spawned from a dimensional hole. After successfully defending Earth and discovered that the Galaga had retreated through said dimensional hole, the UGSF creates a plan to defeat the Galaga and destroy Planet Galaga. The Galaxian-Galaga War of 2288 begins as the UGSF assigned its commander, Yeager, to the spacecraft with Triple Fighter Mode technology, Blast Fighter, with a mission to take the fight to the Galaga and win the war. After successfully completing the mission and returning to base, Yeager learns the truth that the Galaga were originally the same species but they evolved differently. As the Galaga undergo differing evolutions; they form clans and some of them come together in alliances called, "Leagues." After learning about the Galaga clan system, the UGSF categorize the culminative existence known as, the "Galaga League." After Planet Galaga falls to the United Galaxy, the Hyper Drive is appropriated but was unusable for centuries due to repeated failed experiments.

Bosconian Wars (2281 - 2290)

At the same year after the Galaxian-Galaga War of 2281, a new ETI (specifically ETI-2 or Next Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence) has been seen in the United Galaxy's star systems creating their bases and using them to quickly occupy their surrounding territories. The United Galaxy initiates friendly contact, which was followed by a warning, then intimidation, and finally with force. The ETI-2 finally decides to use asteroids to bombard Galaxian colonies, rendering the peace efforts useless and starting the Bosconian War. The UGSF completes their analysis of the ETI-2 and codenames them as, "Bosconian." After the analysis, the UGSF deploys the Anti-Bosconian Fighter Style spacecraft, Blaster, to counter the Bosconians and their Maph Guanto (UG Codename: Bosco-Base). Within a year, the United Galaxy defeats the Bosconians, which cause the interstellar pirates to retreat and abandon their Bosco-Bases. The UGSF wastes no time studying the abandoned Bosco-Bases and after research, the United Galaxy learns more about the Bosconians. Seeing value in the Bosco-Bases, the UGSF began incorporating them into their use.

Eight years later (189 A.G.), the Bosconians began their second attack wave on the United Galaxy. This time, they are secretly supported by the then-unencountered Battura. The UGSF, sensing something peculiar with the Bosconians, deploys the S-81FR, "Blaster FR," which commences Operation: Blast Off. Within a year, the United Galaxy triumphs over the Bosconians. However, there was a scarce amount of Fighter Style spacecraft due to them being limited to one-off or very low-volume production, despite their special functions and tactics. Thus, the UGSF launches the Sword-style report to replace its scarce amount of fighter-style spacecraft. They run into a roadblock briefly, but have General Resource, Neucom, Âge Aviation, and Terrazi Heavy Industries to support development at the UGSF Aerospace Research Institute.

One year later (190 A.G.), the Galaxian-Bosconian War of 2290 begins as the Bosconian threat has finally spread to Earth. The UGSF took notice of the threat's gravity and activates "Operation: Final Blaster" by deploying their newest spacecraft at the time, the Blaster Mk2 "Phoenix," to face the Bosconians. Within the same year, the United Galaxy ended the Bosconian threat by destroying the homeworld of the interstellar pirates, "Planet Bosconian," which cause them to retreat. The UG began the reconstruction of their war-torn colonies. General Recourse LTD forms the Bounty Hounds, which are made up of penal units, fugitives seeking asylum, and the UGSF's troublemakers. Project IGUDRAZIL updates eight major United Galaxy planets with FEDCOM 2. The Root Unit system is introduced.

Chronicle of the Exian War

In 117702 BC, the first Zolgear was born and eventually rested on the moon of Exia named, Zol, which is a natural satellite of the planet Exia. As it made more of itself, there is speculation that the Ancient Farous Civilization was responsible for its creation as the copy body has been passed down to them and the people of Farous called it "Addor Guileness," making it a bioweapon type.

Operation Starblade

90 years later (235 A.G.) after the Galaxians defeated the UIMS Delta, the UIMS launched their third assault on the United Galaxy by bringing their moon-sized superweapon, Red Eye, in an attempt to destroy Earth. The United Galaxy takes defensive action and launch Operation: Starblade using the Sword-style FX-01 Spacecraft fighters, which are confirmed to be made by General Resource. The operation succeeds as Team Starblade destroyed Red Eye by destroying its reactor that was powered by the Power Stone, the Octopus. Just as Team Starblade prepares for return sequence to their mothership, the sensors of the FX-01 have detected the space structure, Iceberg, and the UIMS remnants led by the Commander. This leads to Team Starblade destroying the Iceberg by destroying its control center, which was also powered by the Power Stone. Afterwards, the climatic dogfight ensues between the UIMS Commander and Team Starblade as Team Starblade escaped Iceberg. Eventually, the Commander was destroyed, which broke the UIMS chain of command, sending them in disarray. The Aerosaber and Chronoedge Squadrons withdraw after taking 60% losses (with two squadrons losing their own Captains and two vanguard spacecrafts), leading to the GeoSword squadron getting all the glory and creating a misconception that refers the FX-01 Spacecraft fighter as GeoSword. Then, the United Galaxy recovered the remains of the UIMS Commander and discovered the Quasi-stellar object (QSO), or Quasar. This leads to the development of the Quasar Drive. Afterwards, Squadron Assault Tactics become more frequent.
