Gaplus (ギャプラス) is a space shooting and the third game in the Galaga League lineup released in 1984 on the arcade. The Gaplus forces featured a greater line-up of aliens. There are five types of Gaplus aleins; Zako, Lute, Cap, Ado, and Queen. The player controls the spacefighter in an eight-way movement and equips the power up parts called Blaster Heads to conduct various ways to defeat the aliens in each stage (called PARSEC). In order to get the Blaster Head, the player must defeat the queen holding it. Various Blaster Heads include Phalanx (red), Hyper (blue), Cyclone (Green), Elephant (Pink), Sidewinder (Blue-Green), and Stardust (Yellow). The queen sometimes carries a space fighter part that the player can get an extra life by collecting the three parts. There are secrets hidden throughout the game, one example being that the player can defeat the enemy at a specific pattern to make the Special Flag appear to gain an extra life. Once a certain criteria is fulfilled, the player will be able to play as the Abnoship mode[1]. Though not as successful as its Galaxian and Galaga ancestors, Gaplus became a classic in its own right, and has received multiple home ports and re-releases.
Strangereal-Galaxian Timeline[]
After experiencing the Galaxian-Galaga Wars of 2279 and 2281, the Galaga forces quickly evolve into a higher intelligence lifeforms to create a third generation of aliens called, "Gaplus." The Gaplus proceeds to found an empire under their rule. The UGSF, fearing the rise of the Gaplus, develops a new spacefighter named the "Ogre Header." This new spacefighter is designed to utilize various powerful weapons called "Blaster Heads." The Gaplus recognizes this as a threat and steals the Blaster Heads with their queens. In the year of 183 A.G. (2283), the third war with the aliens, known as the Galaxian-Galaga War of 2283, had begun[2].
